How impressed are you?

My very first batch of homemade bread.
I have always been afraid of yeast, it's something I inherited from my mom. However we have both overcome our fear thanks to our new Bosch mixers and bread making class. Yeah us!
Addie wasn't so impressed

It's my party, I can get a tattoo if I want to.

At least, she colored on herself and not my walls this time.
Happy Birthday Addie!

A little nip here, a little tuck there.

UPDATE: I finally found a better picture for this post, see the smile, this is obviously pre-op.

So a week ago I had what they (those pesky docs) call a bankart repair on my shoulder. Different from a rotatory cuff since it involves the glenoid. I have had a bum shoulder since the first time it dislocated at the age of 14 playing basketball against my best friend Amy in church Region basketball. Anyway, Dr. West laughed at me that finally after 20 years I came in to get it repaired. I told him it was affecting my volleyball game. To which he laughed a little more. Okay, I get the irony of the middle-aged, overweight women who is worried about her ability to play church volleyball. Anyway my shoulder had been getting worse to the point that it would dislocate when I reached up to pull the shower door shut. Time to get it done , I suppose.

Shoulder surgery sucks. Let me clarify right shoulder surgery sucks. I have however, realized I don't make a bad left-hander. Except for vacuuming, I could not for the life of me figure out how to vacuum with my left hand. I am in a dilemma, obey the docs and not use the shoulder at all but, my shoulder feels pretty good and it is almost down right impossible to get anything done with my old lefty?

Anyway, I am tired of pain killers, tired of my sling, tired of not being able to go anywhere because of the painkillers, tired of not being able to run (running can get me of these pity parties I like to hold for myself).

So enough of the negatives on the positive side, I do not or cannot play ward basketball this season( love to play, hate the dramatics of dealing with uber-competitive Christian females who too often forget they are Christians at all), and next fall watch out for my powerhouse serve to return in volleyball.

Anyway, I remember that about a year ago I wrote a post about being in funk this just might be a January funk thing too.

TIny Dancer

Blue jean baby, L.A. lady, seamstress for the band
Pretty eyed, pirate smile, you'll marry a music man
Ballerina, you must have seen her dancing in the sand
And now she's in me, always with me, tiny dancer in my hand

Hold me closer tiny dancer
Count the headlights on the highway
Lay me down in sheets of linen
you had a busy day today

A wave and she's off.

TA DA

First Position

Our Tiny Dancers, Emma and Lexi at their dance recital, aren't they beautiful. ( I had to post this picture so that you could see that the Romeril family is up to something, you would never know that from that pathetically unupdated blog of theirs :) )

Don't I have the prettiest little girl?

"I would help you but...

then you would just have a free hand to shop more."

Got to love that hubby of mine. We went to IKEA on a date ($1 swedish meatball dinner) saturday night to get some christmas present for the girls. I decided to not get a cart since all we were getting was two pieces of furniture in the warehouse part of IKEA and I knew that they had big carts there. As I wandered through the store I kept noticing, that I needed things, a couple rolls of paper, a rug, a lamp for Anna, storage boxes, the list goes on and on, which I now have to carry myself. I kept dropping things and had to stop multiple times to rearrange the items in my arms. At the very moment, I was going to give up and relent to Mark giving me a lecture on how we were there only for 2 things, my clever hubby cuts me off before I can even ask for help.
(This is why I am no longer taking him to Costco too.)

The ugliest shoes ever...

and my husband owns a pair of them. He says they make him feel like he is walking around barefoot. Question: Why not just take off your shoes and socks and walk around?
Actually, he says he is going to run a trail race in them. He wears them to the gym to run in (I am a little embarrassed to walk in with him, is that wrong?). Actually, it is suppose to help your running to run barefoot and with these shoes they give you protection from pebbles and what not. But seriously.
Well, they are ugly but, he loves them and wears them all the time, Mark does so much for me and the girls, I am just glad they make him happy.
